Endoscopic Procedures

Endoscopic procedures allow for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal conditions using minimally invasive techniques. These procedures are commonly performed to investigate symptoms, monitor existing conditions, or provide targeted treatment, often with minimal discomfort and a quick recovery.

Dr Ahmed Naqeeb performs a range of endoscopic procedures using evidence-based methods, with a strong focus on patient comfort, safety, and clear communication.

Gastroscopy

A gastroscopy is a procedure used to examine the oesophagus, stomach, and upper part of the small intestine. It is commonly recommended to investigate symptoms such as reflux, persistent heartburn, abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, or unexplained nausea.

The procedure is performed using a thin, flexible camera and allows for accurate diagnosis, biopsy if required, and appropriate treatment planning.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is used to examine the large bowel (colon) and rectum. It is commonly performed to investigate bowel symptoms, screen for colorectal conditions, or monitor known bowel disease.

This procedure enables early detection of conditions such as polyps, inflammation, or cancer, and may allow for treatment or biopsy during the same examination.

Sigmoidoscopy

A sigmoidoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that examines the lower part of the colon and rectum. It is often used to assess symptoms such as rectal bleeding, changes in bowel habits, or lower abdominal discomfort.

The procedure is shorter than a colonoscopy and may be recommended depending on your symptoms and clinical history.

Rubber Band Ligation of Minor Haemorrhoids

Rubber band ligation is a simple, effective treatment for minor internal haemorrhoids. The procedure involves placing a small band at the base of the haemorrhoid, reducing blood flow and allowing it to shrink naturally.

This treatment is typically performed as an outpatient procedure and is designed to relieve symptoms such as bleeding and discomfort with minimal downtime.
